This database contains a collection of approximately 6,900 photographs from and around the time of the American Civil War. The photographs have been collected from a variety of sources and places but today are held by the Library of Congress' Prints and Photographs Division. You may search for a photograph by year and/or by using keywords or names that may be found in the title or notes of a photograph. In addition to the year, title, notes, and image of the actual photograph, other information that may be provided about a photograph includes the call number and card number -- numbers assigned by the Library of Congress for its cataloging and organizational purposes.
