About Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary, Deportations to Auschwitz, 1944

The Mosonmagyaróvár ghetto was established on May 15-17 of 1944 and 900 Jews from the surrounding area were moved there. Shortly after that, they were moved again to a larger ghetto in Gyor. Ultimately, 5,600 Jews were sent to Auschwitz in two transports on June 11th and 14th of 1944. Hungarian authorities ordered Mr. Frischmann, the head of the Jewish community, to produce the list used in this collection, which consists of the names of about 400 Jews transported to Auschwitz. The list also contains their mother's name and the person's address.
