Picton Town
Picton Town is located in Prince Edward County. In 1820 the post office was first named Hallowell. In 1840 Picton was named after Lt-Gen Sir Thomas Picton, who was killed in the Battle of Waterloo. Wellington 1881
Wellington was called Smokeville until 1830. The name Smokeville came from the fact that in the 1780's a settler named Daniel Reynolds was nicknamed Old Smoke by the Aboriginals.
