Ancestry.com. New Jersey Early Germans [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 1998.Original data: Chambers, Theodore Frelinghuysen. The Early Germans of New Jersey; Their History, Churches and Genealogies. Dover, NJ, USA: Dover Printing Co., 1895.
Printed over one hundred years ago, this database traces the eighteenth and nineteenth century German communities in the state of New Jersey. In addition to the many community histories, it also contains a near exhaustive compilation of early church records in these areas and one of the most complete collections of family genealogies for German immigrants to the state. The author also included books of wills and numerous cemetery inscriptions to provide as complete as possible the genealogies of these early settlers. Unfortunately, the age of the original text and transmission into an electronic format resulted in some unreadable characters. In these cases the symbol (****) has been inserted to indicate the missing text.
