Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of England 1845

The Topographical Dictionary of England provides an in depth look at the townships, parishes, towns, cities, and counties of England, together with notices of the islands of Man, Guernsey, and Jersey. This collection gives an extensive description of English locations, where they were located, principal land owners of the area, the diocese in which the location was situated, and the Roman Catholic district in which the parish is located, along with the corresponding name of the Catholic Parishes.

This collection is invaluable to the British researcher, as lines of jurisdiction changed often. On that note, it is important to remember that while these descriptions were accurate at the time this book was published, areas have changed since 1845.
